The Eighth Annual Season of Lights Free Holiday Concert is next Saturday December 5, 2015 7:00 PM at the First Congregational Church! (1126 SW Park Ave Portland, OR 97205)

The Season of Lights tradition celebrates the cultural and faith traditions of the Portland community. Excellent performers from varied musical traditions will join together this year to present music from Americas, Israel, Europe, Africa, Russia, and Japan. This program is a holiday gift to the families of the Portland community. 

Season of Lights is a community celebration which benefit two charitable organizations that exemplify the spirit of service in our community. This year SOL will benefit Jewish Family and Children Services, and the Portland Boyschoir. Generous donations to these worthwhile organizations are greatly appreciated.

Artists on the program include:

- Cantor Ida Rae Cahana, cantor and music director at Beth Israel Synagogue, and featured soloist with Pink Martini. Andrew Ehrlich (violin), Courtney Von Drehle (accordion from 3 Leg Torso), and Ed Kraus (clarinet).

- Shirley Nanette, one of Portland's finest jazz vocalists, and inductee of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame. Ms. Nanette has guest soloed with the Oregon Symphony as well as many symphonic orchestras across the country. Accompanying Ms. Nanette is pianist Vince Frates.

- Tatiana Kolchanova, violinist and founder/musical director of Music and Arts Academy, Camas, WA and orchestra member of the Portland Opera, will team up with Andrew Ehrlich on a work by Prokofiev.

- Will Dudley, an accomplished performer the Kora (African harp), will perform music from on the West African. This is a beautiful instrument.

- Portland Boychoir is a tremendous a non-profit organization that provides music education and performance opportunities for boys aged 5 to 18. The boys choir, under the masterful direction of David York, will perform vocal works and instrumental pieces for bell choir.

- Thousand Waves, an "electric and exciting blend of musical styles from different continents"- (Art Beat, 2011).Yukiko Vossen Japanese koto, LeeAnn McKenna (flute), and Peter Zisa (8 and 6 string classical guitar).
